A Deltona Mother is facing multiple charges after her young daughter was found left alone in a Publix grocery store bathroom.

Volusia county deputies said 45-year-old Judith Stiles was intoxicated when they went to her house to question her. Earlier in the day, a Publix shopper saw the 12-year-girl in the bathroom and called authorities.

The girl claimed that her mother beat her with an Etch A Sketch toy, so she left home, fearing for her safety. Deputies say Stiles admitted to hitting the child. She’s now facing child abuse and neglect charges. The child has been placed with a family friend.
